"Hotel is excellent; has off road parking and two large sitting areas, one interior and one exterior. Owners were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us; very friendly. Sadly, there was only one other person there and this was in the middle of August. We just loved the multi coloured rooms: very different and refreshing. Châteaudun (Eure-et-Loir) L'aile Dunois (XV), la Grosse Tour ou Donjon (XII) et l'escalier de l'aile Longueville (XVI). A gauche, le clocher (XVI) de l'église Saint-Jean de la Chaîne. L'imposante tour, caractéristique du moyen-âge, fut édifiée vers 1180 par Thibaud V, comte de Blois. Haut de 31 mètres, d'un diamètre de 17 mètres, avec des murs de 4 mètres d'épaisseur à la base, c'est l'un des donjons les mieux conservés de France. L'aile ouest, ou l'aile Dunois a été élevée par Jehan de Dunois pour y loger sa famille entre 1459 et 1468. La façade donnant sur le Loir se caractérise par des échauguettes d'angles et une série de ressauts sur une hauteur d'une soixantaine de mètres.

"Stopped overnight on our way down to our own place in the Charente. Plenty of parking around the chateau. Very pleasant staff and a lovely friendly German Shepperd dog to welcome you. Room was very clean, spacious and a most comfy bed and pillows. We had a lovely dinner in the evening but wanted to get on the road early in the morning so passed on the breakfast, so can't comment on that. Lastly, nice decking area to sit out on in the evenings."
