"Staff were lovely, rooms very clean. There were a few areas of the hotel that were a little tired but restoration work seemed to be underway. Very central location."
"The place needs a lot more work to bring up-to-date. However, I slept so well, so completely rested for my long drive the next day. Also, the Indian restaurant down stairs was lovely for our evening meal. I'd stay here again."
"L’hôtel est très beau, propre et confortable. Les chambres sont au goût du jour. Près du centre historique à pied. Nous avons passé un beau séjour.
Le personnel est très gentil et aidant."
"The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. The wide choices at breakfast were excellent. The only slight setback, in my opinion, was the lack of draught beer In the bar. I can't wait to return to this hotel and magical Rye."
"Our room had a very ugly view over the bins and kitchen extractor fans. This created a loud hum until around 10pm and also brought some cooking smells into the room. The walls are also very thin and we could hear the room next door very clearly.
However, after midnight the noise died down and it was quiet.
The hotel is in a nice, very rural location."
"This place has a brilliant location, staff were fantastic and very helpful, but just please stop with the air freshners or whatever they are using, its so overpowering, and not nice, also I think people can handle old decor etc, just dont add bling to the old, why not get an interior designer pay them and get their help, it could be so cute, leave the old beams and old features, just take out the spangled headboards and blingy pictures, and please please please stop with the pungent air...
"Hotel room perfectly serviceable. Breakfast was disappointing as we were not given the attention others were given. Nothing explained. 4 English breakfast delivered as standard. Other diners had been able to tailor make their choices. Decided not to eat breakfast for the following mornings.
Evening meal was a bit of a disaster. Two of the 4 of us ordered the carvery. The other two meals arrived after a considerable wait. The waitress asked what we were waiting for and after we said we had order...
"Even though the hotel pictures made the building look up and together. It was very tired and in want of some TLC.
The carpark adjacent to the hotel entrance was limited to 3 hours. Obviously the local authority runs this facility, but it would help if the carpark was twenty four seven. Luckily, I was down for the weekend for the Rowing Championships and managed to park for free along by Deal Rowing Club."
"What a little gem of a find. Just a stone’s throw outside Canterbury city centre. Plenty of parking. Breakfast more than adequate. Room warm and spacious. Staff on hand to help if you need them. Will be staying here again when we pop down to Canterbury"
