"This should be a marquee hotel with its history and design. But it's a very tired property being sweated by owners for the last bit of value. Hotel's business is mainly coach parties, so the few rack-rate customers like us feel marginalised. Seriously understaffed to serve and clean up after 3 coach parties at breakfast. Cleaning of the public areas is skimpy. Maintenance likewise.
Barely adequate overall for £140/night at end of Sept. For the record, I think I should have spent a little...
"Good location. Clean and comfortable. A bit lacking in character inside but useful overnight stop while driving the NC500. If you want to use the restaurant best to book. Also check the hours of cafe opening suit you. Dog friendly."
"Liked everything, the room was perfect fi=or my needs, whole hotel was very clean, friendly, helpful staff, excellent food, well cooked and good choice, ideal location"
"It would have been good to be aware of check in process in advance of arrival. The hotel wasn't signposted, so had to phone the number provided, where we were told to visit another hotel reception, where we be provided with our key and directed to our own hotel.
While the room itself was relatively clean, there was no hot water either via the shower or sink. The TV only allowed you to caste via your phone."
"First time staying at the hotel as I normally stay in Inverness when visiting on business.
Only about 20-25 mins North of Inverness and easy to access.
Friendly welcome from the reception and was taken to room by the staff.
Room modern and looks to be recently revamped so it was spotless.
Had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both times staff were friendly and food was good standard.
Will use the hotel in future when in the area."
"This was a lovely gem in our Scotland 500 trip. The rooms are spacious and very clean, comfortable.
The breakfast is a treat as well plenty for all.
The staff was friendly and helpful"
"The ambiance of the property was fabulous. It is an old building and was charming. The main bed was comfortable BUT the futon's were actually chairs that folded out and they were EXTREMELY uncomfortable. There was no staff available. It was all contactless. The bar was the same no people. If you didn't have cell phone to use the QR code you could not get a drink. The breakfast if you didn't pay for it in advance was not available as expected. I found the place charming but unwelcoming. However...
"We stayed for 2 nights as part of a 11 day tour of the Scottish Highlands. We had a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was continental with lots of choice and good quality and staff helpful and friendly. We would stay again."
"Owner was very pleasant and informative. The view was gorgeous. Best sleep of our trip this far. Very comfortable And clean. Woke to birds chirping. Lovely! Painted rocks by owners children. I bought one with a bird on it. 5 star visit!"
