Hospedería del Monasterio de Rueda

Hospedería del Monasterio de Rueda

8/10 Good
"Hospedería de Rueda: A Beautiful Stay with Noticeable Gaps The Hospedería de Rueda is, without question, one of the most most beautiful stays I’ve experienced. The conversion of the old monastery buildings is genuinely exquisite: soaring architecture, serene cloisters, and rooms and suites that are elegantly furnished and kept in immaculate condition. The grounds are equally impressive, with a beautifully maintained pool that feels like a quiet, sun‑drenched retreat. Where the property falters is in its amenities—or rather, the lack of them. There is a small bar, pleasant enough for a drink, but no real provision for a snack or light meal. At one point we had to drive to the nearby town simply to find a sandwich at the municipal sports complex, which rather breaks the spell of staying somewhere so tranquil. Even enjoying a drink by the pool becomes a logistical exercise, as there’s no service and no easy way to bring refreshments down without a slightly comical totter along the long path. The restaurant, the only dining option for miles, is another weak point. The staff are warm and well‑meaning, but the menu lacks interest and flavour, and the overall operation feels underpowered for a hotel of such charm and potential. As for the surrounding area, it offers little beyond the property itself. The self‑guided tour of the monastery is genuinely lovely—calm, atmospheric, and worth doing—but beyond that, there isn’t much to explore. A stunning setting which could be amazing"
