"This hotel is rather isolated which we loved. The service was great and staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good too... very large serves! The pool is also very welcome. Important to note is that there are many steps to negotiate so if you have problems with your hips, knees or ankles then maybe this is not for you."

The washroom has a floor with quite a slope on it so the shower water can cross the floor to a drain under the sink.The drain was very slow , up to 3/3 of an hour to drain; so you walk through water on a sloping floor. Staff just shrugged and said its just like that. No room cleaning, the matress is wrapped in plastic, sweaty to sleep on, the place is terrible and i would not stay there again if it were free "

The place is an absolute cracker for the money.Basic but clean, breakfast was fresh and well served and the pool is such a refreshing way to spend a late afternoon after exploring. ‘Martin’ the turtle swims up to the shore in an afternoon for a nosy which is great to see in his own surroundings and of his own free will. We definitely recommend to book here and would stay again."

"I booked at Golden Gates years back, it went great! I recently booked again at GG because of my previous experience with them. Golden Gates again was a great experience. Staff were very nice and professional. My flight was rebooked and I needed to stay an extra night, the transition was very fast and easy. Stores are nearby to purchase any necessities. If I’m ever in Dumaguete again, I’ll be staying at Golden Gates without hesitation. "
