"This place isn’t close to the stations but it’s very handy to see the shrines and other places like restaurants and convenience store. It doesn’t get 5 stars cause there isn’t even one cup in the room. Had to make coffee in a paper cup without a spoon and supply your own coffee! Nice view from the window. "It was good. Check-in is a little weird. Staff was a little obnoxious, probably due to La Gaige barrier but could make it work. While most of the hostal was clean, Stairs were always dirty. Lots of Lint. And second night was a little hard to sleep on because neighbors were very noisy. Whenever they closed the door it would make a big bang and they spoke loud. "1) Fridge was not cold at all 2) Public bath was out of service and it doesn't seem that the hotel owner planned to renovate anytime soon 3) There was only one room key 4) The drying machine was not cleaned/maintained properly by the staff, so our clothes were still wet after an hour's drying. We paid about 40,000 yen per night for this terrible service and facility, and I'm wondering why the hotel has the audacity to claim itself a 3-star? "

"My boyfriend and I stayed at Pocket for several days while visiting Kyoto. It is located in such a convenient area (walkable distance to Nishiki and transit). The property itself is clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful! It is definitely worth staying here for the price! The only complaint I have come from the other foreigners/tourists. Please be respectful of the space especially when maintaining cleanliness as this is a shared space. Otherwise, I’d definitely recommend Pocket hotel! "

"Facility's shared bathing area is very clean, had a passcode for the female bath so it felt fairly safe. Free laundry machines are available but the drier is not very good so it took very long for all my clothes to dry. One of the front desk lady was a bit cold when we arrive to store our luggage. The hotel is located in a smaller alley, but overall the location is convenient as it is within walking distance to the Kyoto station. "
