"Despite the construction/roadwork being done outside, the room was quiet at night. No air conditioning but the shades and fan made the room comfortable for sleeping. There is a lovely garden out back where we sat for breakfast. Less than 1 block from rail station and a very easy walk to downtown Oxford. We were able to leave luggage there much of our last day while we continued to explore the town. It was very handy to then walk to the train and head to the next destination"

During the evening could here loud bangs from other rooms… on returning on early evening from a meal found the police where arresting a male for breach of his bail… overall would never return to this hotel or ibis in the future"

"A relaxing weekend, the room was clean and quiet, the staff were helpful and polite and the food good qulality. There was plenty of parking at the Hotel and in the town and made for a lovely weeken break."

However the moment we checked in we went to the spa where the cryotherapy was broken and we couldn’t order any refreshments as the lady said she couldn’t leave her post. We waited for over an hour and half for dinner and there was no advice on things to do on activities."

"The River Hotel is a very charming small hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are roomy and comfortable. The breakfast was very good, like homemade, and the hospitality was excellent. The negatives are that it was quite hot (heatwave) with no air conditioning, and the considerable noise of the road/bridge work right outside the window. They did provide fans.
