Air conditioning in my room was rather basic, did not help much, felt the heat. Staff did not speak English but given that Ubatuba is generally a holiday destination for ‘Paulistas’, Sao Paolo residents, that is understandable so get prepared, at least with basic Portuguese. "The beds are hard, the bread is older than the city. There is trash piled up along the street. The TV did not work. The heater only blows cold air and you cannot shut it off, it was 8C outside so no need for cold air."

"A Casa Zen é um lugar muito especial, muito aconchegante e com uma administração super humana e preocupada com o bem estar dos hospedes. Eu já fiquei em muitos hostels, inclusive em Ubatuba, e este sem dúvidas foi o mais especial. O café da manha é de surpreender, muito melhor do que de hotéis e pousada, posso garantir… os voluntários (em especial Agustina e Tali) são super energia para cima e receptivas… sem falar nos cachorrinhos e os gatos que deixam o ambiente ainda mais familiar.
