"Main problem was ongoing construction of two new cottages only a few feet from the single existing cottage. Savy lodge owners care about client comfort and do not rent when renovating. Lighting along boardwalk poor and I tripped over a fresh 3 ft tall gravel mound ( construction) walking to our car in the dark. The manager did not show us the cottage upon our arrival as all other 13 places we stayed in Belize did."

Family run and in a fairly remote location so we saw enormous, 5 ft. orange iguanas along the river (take binoculars to see them better) and heard the howlers in the area. However, the place could use some work - cleaning, painting, general maintenance, etc. And it is not a 'resort' by most American's description. "I arrived early in the day, and Colin was very responsive and understanding of my situation allowing me to have a room immediately. The room was comfortable and clean. Later in the day, Colin came by to check if I needed anything. Since the nearby restaurants were closed, he personally made the drive to pick up food and deliver it to us. The next day, he even gave us a ride to the airport. His personalized attention meant a lot to me. Thank you to Colin and to the Bomboleo Inn! "
