We received alternative accomodation details in Jesmond which was off putting. We called back and not understanding why the change, we insisted on our original booking which they reluctantly gave us. "We booked Nags Hotel as we needed somewhere close to the Racecourse. It is a nice quiet hotel. The room was small but for the price was great for 1 night. When we came down for dinner the restaurant and pub was packed out. We went out to see what was close by but they were all takeaway places. We eventually found a small table back at the Pub. "Far too many long-term residents and they are very chummy with the staff. Up yelling and screaming in the common room, calling indoors without meaningful comments from staff. I felt like we were guests in THEIR house. No secure storage in the dorms. Eva at the front desk was great with local suggestions."
