"Couldn't stay as when I arrived the lights were out with no one inside except a noisy parrot , phone number was unreachable. Walked inside the hotel complex looking for a sign of life only to find dirty corridors with light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. Was a completely different experience to what was advertised. "Excellent location for the racing - stayed 3 nights in total which included parking. It was a little run down but very good value for money. Had microwave, kettle and fridge in the room, with tea coffee sugar and milk. Room was clean, a little run down in places with marks on the wall etc, windows a little dirty, but nothing overly bad. "We didn’t stay! As the hotel decided to cancel the evening before the Coldplay concert due to weather! What absolute rubbish. So disappointed and would never consider staying there again. Even paid upfront and booked months in advance. If I had have cancelled within 24 hours I would have been charged! We had to book another hotel which cost us above the odds just so we could attend the concert. A very upsetting and stressful experience. "

"Excellent price for a short stay, about a 15mins walk from York City Centre, so perfectly located to access shops, attractions and places to eat etc.
Asda just down the road perfect to grab some basic essentials & munchies.
Room basic but very clean, pillows could have been a bit firmer, but ensure shower room was nice.

Owner Glenn is so helpful, resourceful and kind to have a chat. The volunteers Kasia and Dan are lovely to talk with.
It feels a very cosy hostel, not too crowded, noisy and neither a party hostel. I was visiting for tourism and leisure and while many of the guests staying here for work or business, there were no issues.
And Glenn kindly helped to sorted out a minor issue in the room very effectively.
Just a note there is no stove but a microwave...
