"I think the price for the shared room was fair but overall place is not that clean. You won’t be able to have a towel unless you pay and the showers are little frustrating because you have to hold the handle down in order to keep the water running. The breakfast included is a perk but this place is best for on a budget if you don’t plan to stay in the room long."

"The place to use as your base whilst in this beautiful City. Close to everything, The Old Town,Royal Mile ,Castle,then across Waverley Bridge to Princes Street .Absolute must if your on a budget,and are planning to be our every day. 4 bed dorm,clean ,shower,toilet facilities. When you check out ,storage for your luggage if like me your train is leaving in the afternoon. 2nd time using here...will always use here. Christmas next I think."

"Location was great - to our surprise the concierge won’t let us stay at least on the waiting room for the 10 minutes the room needed to be ready. Never happened anywhere else in the world (he didn’t look very welcoming - kept showing us the sign that the check-in is at 3 PM - I would have been embarrassed to say that to people that have travelled from another continent for 7.5 hours to get there). "While the room seemed like it had been cleaned, with fresh sheets and towels, looking at the general maintenance of the hotel and the rooms I wasn't filled with hope. The hotel smelled of cigarette smoke, which is ironic considering no smoking was very explicit and one of the many "rules" made clear. "We were very impressed with this place! The room was very spacious and thr bed so comfortable! We loved our room. Gifford House had their own attraction booklet that they took the time to put together to offer original choices. We were very grateful for the Scottish treats left for us. Any time I had questions, the staff were prompt to reply and help. Thank you again Gifford team! We hope to see you again soon!"

We initially had issues checking in and were messed around with access to our room, including our doors not opening properly. Once inside, the problems continued.
