"Great hotel within walking distance of the railway station and the old town. Situated on the river, it’s a nice walk. Whilst we were given free transportation around the city, we did not take advantage of this as Salzburg is so small and did not cover boat rides along the river. "I was lucky to stay here when the temperature dips below 20 at night so every bit of warmth was appreciated. There was a fan that still worked non-stop to offset the heat produced by four people during the day. Transportation into the town was very convenient with bus stops for 1 and 10 within a few minutes’ walk. The lounge outside the rooms was spacious for eating. Water pressure was great and showers were hot."
"I really enjoyed this place. The rooms are cluttered, and some stuff is worn, but it feels like home. The staff were very helpful. We were able to do laundry and really appreciated that. They gave us a free bus pass, which was awesome. We did not have breakfast but the patio is lovely so that might have been nice. Great location. 15 minute walk to the central old town locations."
"A lovely gem of a place and town. Charming, clean and safe area, just lively enough with eateries and shopping. Safe for quiet strolls at night.
Locals were friendly and welcoming.
And the property itself was immaculately, clean fresh and beautifully styled.
Perfect little convenience touches like Nespresso in the lobby and rooms and laundry room available for travelers.
We enjoyed the town so much we chose to spend more time here than in Salzburg and wish we had planned more days here!

"Ein schwer auffindbares Haus in einer schmalen Stichstraße, über einen Schlüsseltresor kommt man zum Schlüssel, doch der Zugangscode ist wieder über eine Webseite abzurufen, die man nicht einfach anklicken kann. Kontakt zum Vermieter nicht möglich, auch nicht durch Expedia. Die Einrichtung wahrscheinlich von 1960.

"We loved the location of this place with the bus stop right outside. The apartment was very cute and had most everything we needed. The only complaint is we stayed in apartment 1, facing the next door farm. The manure smell was overwhelming, and since it was warm, we had to have the windows open. This is certainly no fault of Pension Ballwein but future visitors should be made aware of this. We still loved the place, this was just an unfortunate situation."
