When we arrived at this spectacular waterfall, we were surprised to see that most of the swimmers were young local monks, taking some time off from their studies. It's an incredible place to swim and an even better place to meet locals on their own turf.
Koh Kong is a rough around the edges, border town between Cambodia and Thailand. Most won't even know the name of the place as they pass through on their way to Bangkok, but it does hold some gems for those looking to get off the beaten path. Besides the rapidly logged Cardamom Forest, you'll also find the incredible Peam Krasaop Mangrove Sanctuary here located about 10 to 15 minutes outside of town by moto. Tip: Vendors in the park serve food and drinks - spreading the money around a bit is always much appreciated.

The floating village of Mai Rut in Thailand is one of the coolest places we've ever been. On the south coast, near the Cambodian border, this whole town is built on stilts and wooden walkways – and you'll hardly see another tourist there. Definitely worth a visit.
