Lukla Airport one of most dangerous air strips in the world. Only 460 meters in length with a 50 meter elevation change from the bottom of the runway to the top and about a 9000 ft drop off at the end of the runway.
Arriving in Lukla, Nepal. These are the airport signs. At Lukla, there is one tiny runway on the edge of a mountain, a tarmac just big enough to hold 4 small airplanes, and a small airport terminal. You collect your bags right on the tarmac, cross through an opening in this fence, and then begin your journey to Everest Base Camp. Everest Base camp, Tibet side.
