The property is like going into a novel set in the late 1800- early 1900s. The original workmanship was beautiful and the updates have changed it a little but it still has the essence of the time. The key and mail cubbies are there and the library doesn't have many books but has some interesting old items. The pool, terrace, and balcony off my 3rd floor room gave guests several places to be outside to enjoy the wonderful view.
The bathroom taps were tricky to turn on and then continued to drip when turned off, so that wasn't so good and they were a bit stingy on towels. The wifi is only in public areas of the hotel, not in the rooms. The rooms could use better lighting, lamps etc. so one could read at night. It's quite a hike up to the top of the hill, but it made up for missing my exercise classes. The staff were polite and very helpful, for example the taxi driver was waiting for me upon arrival at the airport and was there early when I left. The toast cheese and ham was just right for an evening snack. It was fun to picture ladies from long ago in their long dresses and hats going up and down the stairs. It's nice they are preserving such a wonderful building!
