Buyer Beware in booking a room at the Hotel Aspen Inn Suites in Flagstaff. Besides the poor quality of the room, this hotel charged me $400 for a room that I didn’t want and wasn’t allowed to use. It started with a snafu in Expedia where I mistakenly entered the wrong email address. That set me up with one room that didn’t show up on my Expedia account and, unable to locate it later, I assumed that reservation didn’t go through, then booked another room under my usual email address. The clerk noticed this error on our arrival, saying I needed to call Expedia to not be charged for the second room. I immediately called Expedia who said they’d call the hotel manager to get their okay. At 9 am the next morning, I found the manager, who tersely told me the entire cost for two nights was already charged and there was no possibility of a refund for the entire tab. Regarding the quality of the room, we awoke to a rattling noise at 5.30 am both nights, probably due to freight trains that regularly run across the street. The trash was not emptied when the room was cleaned. We started out with only one partial roll of TP. Only two towels were left after the room was cleaned. The electrical outlets and USB ports were worn, resulting in intermittent charging. But, mostly, be aware that, if booked for several nights, the cancellation fee is for all nights, even paying the late cancellation fee as I did. My wife, kids and I were all upset at this.
