"If you are looking for a remote lake get away in northern Otsu this is ideal. This location suits the out door adventure types who want to be away from Otsu city. The lake was an amazing place to swim. What also would be a Great Lake side party atmosphere and relaxation with a group of friends. Amazing cleanliness despite the overall facility being quite old. However rooms and common room air conditioned which was a life saver in the hight of a Japanese summer. The Hostel is not located near any shops and not close to the train station so be prepared to do some serious walking or better rent a bike whilst you are there."

"This was just a wonderful stay. The hosts could not be more kind, generous, and inviting. It is a nice quiet village, with restaurants and cafes and bakeries and grocery stores nearby. Can't say enough how wonderful it was."

"I liked the fact that there was 2 public baths and a sauna. The price was super reasonable. I really liked the quietness of the town. It was like Kyoto (without a bunch of tourists). I would like to stay there again to relax."
