You will have full access to the cottage, kayaks, game storage and your own *private* newly-fenced yard. The cottage is located on a shared property with a detached storage garage and my house, which will not be accessible (unless I bake too many muffins).
My family lives at a house on the same property, and I would be happy to facilitate an in-person check-in if I am around, or just chat about the gardens, wildlife, and local attractions!
The Villas is the hidden gem of Cape May County: a peaceful, residential atmosphere with calm waters and natural, white sand beaches prized by locals. You are situated just a 15 minute drive to both downtown Cape May and Wildwood -- the choice is yours!
This area is a nature-lover’s paradise: from the horseshoe crabs who have made a yearly pilgrimage to our white sand beaches for millions of years, to the endangered migratory birds who stop here to feed on their monumental journey North. Don’t forget to bring your scope to watch our stunning local bald eagles and osprey hunt just off-shore, or catch a glimpse of a pod of dolphins playing in the surf!
The surrounding area is packed with things to do: spend the day roaming nearby downtown Cape May, America’s first seashore resort (4 beach tags included with your stay), sample one of the many local wineries and craft breweries, take an afternoon to visit the Cape May County Zoo, charter a whale and dolphin watching boat, sign up for a tour of the back bays, hike the high dune trail, climb to the top of the Cape May lighthouse, ride the rides at the Wildwood boardwalk, or watch the flag ceremony at Sunset beach.
For your convenience, Duraflame logs can be purchased at the Lowes 3.5 miles away and firewood can be purchased from many small vendors in the area. Smaller grocery runs or quick food is less than a mile away at a Wawa, and the Rio Grande shopping area is less than 4 miles away.
Please note that while the beaches are ideal for kayaking, walking, fishing, or watching the sun set, this beach is not ideal for swimming because of how shallow the bay is. There is also a 5 foot tide that causes the water to recede and reveal tidal pools. We recommend you download a tide clock app to track the tides for ideal kayaking!
