"This house was perfect for our Memorial Day weekend at the lake. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The back deck is glorious and the view of the pastures and the mountains is beautiful. It’s so close to the restaurant and campground - less than 5 minutes to walk over there- but far enough away to be private and quiet! We really enjoyed every minute! We rented a pontoon boat, went golfing, and had so much fun at karaoke night and the live band at the bar on Saturday night!! And don’t forget the lawnmower races!! We can’t wait to rent this place again! "

"I was absolutely blown away by this property—from the moment I arrived, it felt like something out of a dream. The views of Mt. Hood are truly spectacular, and the setting is peaceful and picture-perfect. Inside, the home was spotless and beautifully maintained. The hosts went above and beyond with thoughtful touches like treats, snacks, and even a bottle of wine waiting for me. It was clear that every detail had been considered with care. "Very unique. It's a step back in time. Don't expect modern resort but you will get friendly authentic service provided by local people who bend over backwards to fulfill your needs and interests. Dufur is a very small old rural historical town in, what some would call, the middle of nowhere. If you want seclusion and enjoy country walks or bike rides and meeting really interesting people the Balch Hotel is for you as it was for us. The people really are fantastic. Debr helped us with a sticky situation because of some booking confusion and I can't say enough about her spirit of problem solving and meeting her customers need"

"We enjoyed our stay. Well furnished and comfortable. Only downside (not the hosts fault) is nearby neighbors that have several outdoor dogs that bark all night long. I turned on a fan and tuned it out Lake is an easy walk, maybe 10 minutes "
