The Location - Panarea is situated right on Wanda beach and delivers lovely sunrises. Soldiers Point is definitely for those who are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Located at the most western tip of the Tomaree Peninsula, Soldiers Point is almost entirely surrounded by the port making it a popular location for fishing and boating. Soldiers Point Marina (2.4km away) offers state-of-the-art mooring facilities and two fine dining restaurants plus cafes. Opposite the Marina is a public park with a playground and tennis courts, which are available for hire all year round. The exclusive Rick Stein Restaurant at the Bannisters Resort is just 800 metres away and opposite Bannisters is the Soliders Point Bowling Club which offers more affordable meals. Little Salamander shops is only 500m and for more selection visit the Salamander Shopping Centre which is just 4.8km away and Nelson Bay is 9km's from the apartment.

The Apartment - 1/197 Soldiers Point Road is on the ground floor, looking straight out to the harbour, with the water just steps away. The outdoor area is set up with couches and sun beds, plus a gas BBQ, leading in to light filled, open plan living with expansive water views, ducted air conditioning, and a Smart TV. The dining area is off the gourmet kitchen complete with Nespresso coffee machine (BYO pods), Microwave, dishwasher, oven and a full fridge. The master bedroom has a queen bed, and ensuite bathroom, the second bedroom has a queen bed and the third has two sets of bunk beds. There is a spacious bath (spa currently unavailable, sorry for the inconvenience) and shower in the main bathroom and also a separate laundry with washer and dryer.

Great location but needs better maintenance and cleaning
Nice apartment but we had three problems. The first was access. There is no indication on the website that it is anything other than a level easy access. In fact there is a long, steep set of stairs to negotiate every time one needs to go to or from the apartment. No problem at all for healthy young people but not so good for my 90 year old mum who was basically confined to the unit and the little patch of grass outside. Second problem was hopeless cleaning before our arrival. The dining table was sticky all over and there was a big sticky blob of goo embedded in the carpet next to the second bed. Third problem is the stink (disgusting stench) emanating from the floor drain in the laundry. Apart from these things it was very nice!

Beautiful waterfront
The property was just as advertised. Beds were comfy and the view from the patio is just AMAZING! We were treated to dolphins swimming by on sunrise. Thanks for having us, we will be back!

Cockroach-infested nightmare
I recently had the misfortune of staying at what can only be described as a vermin-infested nightmare of a holiday rental property. Our weekend getaway turned into a cockroach haven that still sends shivers down my spine. To begin with, the apartment seemed to have a fascination with German cockroaches. These vile creatures practically took over the place. 
The floors were littered with the remains of at least 10 dead cockroaches – a macabre display of the property's inability to maintain even a semblance of cleanliness. As if this wasn't enough, the live cockroaches were infiltrating every nook and cranny imaginable – from kitchen cabinets to beds, furniture, and even the kitchen slab. The outdoor furniture and patio were adorned with dead leaves and dirt. The windows and door glasses appeared to have not seen a cleaning cloth since ages and were full of stains and grime. The cherry on top of this disaster was the property agents' spectacular display of unprofessionalism. Initially, they seemed to recognise the gravity of the situation and offered a fair compensation for the trauma we endured. However, true to form, they backtracked on their promises faster than a cockroach scuttling into a crevice. To add insult to injury, they've now chosen to ignore my phone calls, leaving me feeling like a frustrated and powerless pest in their own game. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this property as possible.

Sunrise snapshots
For someone who is never up before 8, we were up at 6 every morning to watch the sunrise over the water. Friendly walkers along the beach, dolphins swimming past and a tame kookaburra joining us for breakfast. All the amenities we needed. Only a suggestion would be to use a key safe rather than pick up/drop off in Nelson Bay. Not far but not on the way when arriving or leaving.

Great view comfortable beds lovely and clean . Negatives cleaners still on site when arriving at 2.15pm had to wait 30 min to gain access . Last day enjoying a beautiful morning only to have a lawn person arrive at 7.50 and didn’t leave till after 8.45 .Might not of been such an issue but we were on the ground level and the whipper snipper was throwing up grass clumps .He didn’t even check if anyone was there .This work should be done after 10am .So might as well of checked out earlier and save money as one couldn’t enjoy the quietness of the morning before having to leave at 9.45

Lovely beachfront unit
We had a group of 4 adults and 3 kids and this place was absolutely perfect for our stay. Beautiful location, right on the beach but with a grassy area outside for the kids, watching the sunrise each morning - we didn't want to leave! Well-sized kitchen and comfortable beds. The only downside was that the keys weren't located on-site, so it required a 15 minute drive into Nelson Bay to collect keys on check-in and then another drive to drop off on check-out. A lockbox on site would have made the process much more convenient. All in all though, would happily stay at this property again.
