Great Location, Family-Friendly House, Mixed on Communication
We have been vacationing at Playa Encanto for years, but this is the first time we stayed at Casa Mermaid. The layout of the house was perfect for our family with 5 young daughters, as was the proximity to the beach. The area on the back porch to wash off sand was a godsend.
The only minor gripe about the house is that there is no door to separate the master bedroom from the master bathroom, which compromises privacy a little bit with a large family. Also, our daughters decided to cover the mermaids with bikini tops made of painters tape, as they wanted the mermaids to be more modest during our stay :)
The communication with the property management company was mixed, at best. We did not understand that the property managers only respond during the hours of 9a and 5p. And they need at least 24 hours to respond to requests. Had we known those expectations up front, we would have been spared two negative experiences.
One, we were given directions to the house that were not accurate. When we couldn’t find the house, we went back to the guard tower. Luckily, we spoke Spanish and the guard helped us find the house and we checked in.
Two, despite sharing proactively we had a large family staying for the week, they didn’t stock enough toilet paper. It took 24 hours to receive toilet paper and the house ran out in the interim - which was awkward and stressful. We learned toilet paper is considered an “amenity” and not guaranteed, which was disheartening. So, lesson: BYOTP.
