"We had a most enjoyable experience at the Parador de Cardona, perched high up in a beautiful location. All the staff, reception, bar and restaurant, were very helpful and professional. Our room at the top of the castle was well-furnished with a large, comfortable four-poster bed and decent bathroom, both with wonderful views. The AC worked very well. Our dinner in the restaurant was delicious and the service perfectly paced, not hurried. As it’s half-way between homes in Spain and France, we very much look forward to our next visit. BTW, if you’re anticipating a comfortable hotel in an 11th century castle, it’s exactly that and I suggest you ignore low-star ratings mentioning lack of “coffee stations” and “pools”, it’s not a motel in MAGA-land, thank goodness! "

The only negatives we experienced were that the rooms were too warm and the AC doesn’t really work; opening the windows is fine but since there is no net it’s easy for bugs to get into the room. "The staff was just SO sweet. Our group of 4 was not in the mood to go out for dinner, so they set up a spread in the kitchen. Somehow we booked the honeymoon suite so were surprised to find a big heart of rose petals on our bed as well as champagne and Cokes. They let us park right out front the entire stay. I could go on, but you get the picture."
