"The hotel has no sign on the facade, and it was stressing to find it without that. There is no concierge and the registration is strange, with a WhatsApp communication to a staff member, having to take picture of the passport and send it over via WhatsApp or email, which is strange and concerning. Also concerning is a “contract” that we are asked to sign in order to get access to the building. I found the process very strange and concerning. Had never seen a hotel asking us to sign a contract before. Apart from that, the building inside is modern, clean and pleasant. The room is very good too. There is no option for breakfast, but one can prepare their own, in the communal kitchen"

"Easy check in. Parking on side of building. Receptionist can speak English and was helpful. Room nice and I had a small terrace. TV large with plenty of channels. Breakfast was great. Very nice hotel, no complaints."

"House is absolute lovely, even better than the pictures. The hosts were so thoughtful, ensuring we had everything we needed before and during the trip. The house is very generously stocked with essentials and grocery items, it really does feel a home from home. The view from the garden and sauna is wonderful - we went in the sauna almost every day, it was so peaceful! And the location was perfect for us to enjoy the outdoors and local wine - beautiful area, perfect for cycles, hikes and visiting wineries and castles. Great holiday."

"The apartment was gorgeous! Large & airy, amazing location. A few issues… I had to track down someone who spoke English in order to get access to the apartment. Right after I booked the apartment a few months ago, they did send me information about parking, but there was nothing about a code to get the key for the apartment. I booked through Expedia, which was probably part of the problem and probably would’ve had fewer issues had I booked directly. Expedia also gave the incorrect address of the apartment which caused confusion. We finally got into the apartment and were very pleased with it. Unfortunately, zero toiletries were provided. No hotel size shampoo, soap, etc. Luckily we had a little bit with us from previous hotels, but this is a simple thing that should be stocked at the apartment. Also, an amenity that was advertised was laundry in the unit. This was not correct, again we had to speak with the desk at the hotel adjoining, get a key for another apartment, and use their laundry, which was not very convenient. The hotel beds were very comfortable, have a nice quality, linens, and plenty of fluffy towels were provided. Beware, it is difficult to find a place in Duernstein to eat dinner past a certain hour as most of the business comes in the middle of the day from the river cruises that stop in the early part of the day. "
