The hotel needs more cleaning and the building needs to be updated. Also the bathroom needs a better bath tube and a flexible shower head/hose. Some bedroom blankets and covers have stains! Towels are very old. The good thing is that it is very well located.

It's not a modern hotel but everything was pretty good. My room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, very spacious and the bathroom was also very clean. Breakfast was very well served with eggs, yogurt, cereals, breads, fruits and more. It's also in a very good location, 1km from the shopping mall, 1 block from Pocitos beach and a short walk to Pocitos main street.

The location is great. The room itself was great and clean with the exception of the window drapes which I had them remove as they were very dusty but the bed and rest of the room was very clean. The breakfast was also very good and the staff were both friendly and helpful.

The Ermitage Hotel is a throwback to the 1960's, as evidenced by the furniture. The staff is courteous and helpful, Keep in mind that this seems to be a trait of all Uruguayans. The breakfast is nothing to talk about. They could use a water filter for their coffee making, because it tastes like water from the drain. There is really no restaurant at the hotel. Mind you, there is no need for one as there are at least a hundred great places to eat within walking distance. The single beds were clean and confortable and the room was typical of economic hotels in Uruguay. The bathroom was clean and it looked like it had been recently renovated. Hot water was plenty. TV was relatively new but they could use an additional electrical plug for charging mobile devices. All in all, was worth the price and the location was very convenient, as it is just a few feet from the Ramble and a 20 minute walk to Punta Carretas.

Location suited us, by the beach and away from worst of traffic, but right by bus routes to the centre and the old town. However, hotel is a bit tired and gloomy, as were the staff. Breakfast choices rather limited and dull.

The Wi Fi is so cheap that doesn't allowed to use What's App . Then Expedia messed up so big that my stay , that I always check only with breakfast included , ( as you can check on my last 10 bookings ), didn't included that . And they charged me U$ 15 for a cup of coffee and 2 machine baked croissants ( not bakery made ) the first day .Of course ,after that I have to get dress and have breakfast somewhere else , creating a very uncomfortble wake up , instead of a relaxing one. The human quality of the staff is second to none

A very good choice
Pleasant location; good views of the Rio de la Plata; excellent breakfast with great wait staff. Two computers available for guest use. Staff at reception desk is polite and friendly but I was used to more attention at my old favorite hotel downtown, such as offering to help with bags, taxis, etc. But if you ask them for something, they are quick and polite.

Nice hotel, great area close to the ocean
Great and accommodating staff, they actually spoke English which was refreshing. Breakfast was good for continental standards, rooms very clean, the hotel is a bit dated though. The location is definitely one of the fortes of the place, would recommend as a great value for money option for those not looking for glitz but necessities and convenience.

Nice hotel - not luxury but great for the price!
This hotel was very nice and clean. Although it doesn't have the look of a chain hotel, it was very nice, comfortable, and clean. The bathroom was on the small side but definitely functionally sound. There was a normal size tub, toilet, bidet and sink with counter space. The room was spacious and comfortable. The AC worked well. There was a big screen TV. However, the channels are only in spanish. The breakfast was decent - eggs. sausage, croissants, OJ, yogurt, coffee, jams. The lobby was spacious and overlooked the water. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful.

Great hotel near Playa Pocino
Only got to stay here 2 nights, but they were wonderful. Best free breakfast we've had at a hotel anywhere. Staff were very helpful & the location is delightful; the Swiss embassy is a block away.

Pleasant and Conveniently-located Time Warp
Stayed only one night but, despite the dated appearance of the hotel, it was a comfortable enough stay. Had a quiet room facing the park and Pocitos beach. Decent foam bed and well-equipped bathroom. Cleaning was a little under par as there were dust balls under the desk, but the room was cheery enough and in good working condition. The breakfast was reasonable with a couple heated options and took place in a bright, albeit under-decorated/understated lounge, The overall feel of the hotel is from the 60's - classically spartan, but the direct access to the beach past the lovely park makes for a great morning stroll. The hotel is within working distance of all the great restaurants and bakeries located in Punta Carretas, Troouville, Ellari and Pocitos.
