Thanks for choosing Birdsong; a sustainable solar soundscape sanctuary. Fluff your feathers NC mountain lovers in the #1 Asheville escape. Come home, soak, in skylit tub for two with spring-fed waters. Stargazing is free from city lights. Walk our forested deer trails on private 30 acres. Easy access to ski resort & hiking AT. Celebrate romantic unions. Gather with friends & family over warm fires. Learn about solar, water, & planting trees. Recording studio in nearby barn & hot tub can be added on.

Enjoy a magical guesthouse nestled in nature. It is Asheville's premier getaway (30 miles to cooler country air at 3600 ft+. Restore, rewild, and renew in a unique wildlife private paradise. Panoramic views, pristine stream & solar-powered renewable energy transform stress into tranquil calm. The spring-fed water system, radiant heat, and on-site harvested post and beam cabin architecture connect to the cozy chalet. Owls, wild turkeys, hawks, Indigo Bunting, and Cardinals dazzle the deer trails on the property.

We are earth-lovers who are grateful to be kind hosts and reveal one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Feel great with your #1 booking choice as you support a more sustainable vacation with garden sanctuary for birds, bees, trees & butterflies.

Located in a private cove, secluded with easy access to I26, Asheville, Burnsville, Mars Hill, Marshall, Weaverville, and Wolf Laurel country club/ski. AWD or snow chains will be needed if it snows or sleets.

Radiant heat makes delightful cozy evenings to remove the chill at these lofty elevations. Three floors, 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 4 living spaces, yoga, and lounging areas to nap in, spacious gardens, open space, solarium, deck, gas grill, fire pit, fireplace, wood stove, and babbling brook.

Birdsong's top floor starts in the overstory. Tree lovers listen to the whispering maples from the queen's canopy 4 poster bed. Breathe mountain air with hoots of the barred owls at dusk and dawn to call your dreams and wake your joy.

Lofty relaxations continue into the meditation/yoga space next to the TreeHouse room. An infrared sauna can be added to this space upon request. Across the hall features a bathroom with skylights to see starlight. The soaking tub for two is a nirvana-like experience. Rest assured knowing chlorine is foreign to spring-fed, solar-heated agua. Easy access to the bathroom at night for these two bedrooms, but watch your head because the room is made for the nimble and aware and is not a standard-height room.

The Sky bedroom also shares this top floor. The queen bed is sequestered with two twin beds making it a sleepover. Casement windows open to the scents of the gardens below with views of the mountains & meadows. Listen carefully; to hear the magic hum of the bee song.

Hand-carved woodblock stairs lead you down to the main floor. Open space to kitchen, dining, wood stove, fireplace in the living room, family room, home entertainment room (5th bedroom), laundry, and access to deck, grill, and solar patio. Music connections and great wifi are easy connections in Birdsong guesthouse to Tik-tok your dance party.

Large full bathroom on the main floor with rain shower & ceramic seat, sink, and toilet. The house's spring-fed water has been tested & filtered. Discover the taste of the most delicious water on earth.

Downstairs leads to a private space that feels like the understory of the forest. Two bedrooms on the bottom floor house the Butterfly room and the Hummingbird room, both with queen beds. We chose names to reflect the feeling of the sound of the pollinators. Quiet, secluded, private entrance to the gardens and parking. Views of forest, stream, and meadows.

Joining these two bedrooms is an open space to run on a treadmill or relax garden/twin lounger. Perfect kickback area for gamers with a flat-screen TV.

We invite inquiries to book sessions in Anahata Rising's recording studio (home to jam band Franklin's Kite.) The studio is located in a converted tobacco barn where the owners, Dave, GretaLee, "Wonder dog" Mocha & kitty Izzy reside. This is out of sight of the Birdsong GH ensuring your privacy.

We offer guest services in hiring or recommending musicians, sound techniques, photographers, healers, artists, and chefs. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, with spices and condiments, a food processor, juicer, ice, ice cream, fondue, and waffle maker. Farm-fresh eggs and coffee and tea are complimentary.

Unwind slowly as you drive our one-mile gravel Beauty Spot Cove road to the end where you arrive at a magical bluebird of happiness Birdsong place. Four-wheel drive will be needed if it snows, but navigable in good weather conditions. We plow the drive for our guests.

We will be offering workshops on cultivating springs and restoration agriculture in the near future.

Great Stay!
We loved our time in this house! It is a bit farther from Asheville than we realized when booking - about 35 minutes - but it was in such a gorgeous setting with such a pretty drive it didn't bother us much! The space is beautiful and the yard is humongous. The hosts are also so kind and gave us garlic and chicken eggs.

Amazing!!
My partner and I booked this property for our elopement ceremony with our parents. The location was beautiful, and the house had everything we could’ve possibly asked for. The hosts were amazing and super communicative the entire time, and allowed our event to happen on their property. The house was super clean on check-in, had tons of sleeping space, including four bedrooms and additional sleeping space. The house is a little noisy with lots of people, but nothing that detracted from the stay. Comfy, beautiful, and clean. If I had to list the con of the property: only one shower isn’t ideal (there’s a second bathroom with a massive tub and hand held shower sprayer but very low ceilings in that bathroom and the tub made it unusable for our parents). However, we made it work and the property was good enough to make up for it. The check out process was also super simple. No massive check list like many Vrbos these days.

Wonderful Reunion Stay
A large contingent of family and friends met to celebrate new twins. The house was amazing! Everyone, all ages loved it. It is a bit remote but only 15 minutes from a grocery store and GPS takes you right to the property as well as the owner’s directions. The owners were wonderful and very responsive to our questions. We would definitely recommend this place to large groups!

My daughter was turning 30 and we wanted to make it memorable. She decided she wanted to spend it in the mountains and we found this lovely place. The owners were kind, accommodating, and responsive. They even left a welcome basket with birthday candles and s'mores fixings. We enjoyed our stay so much we are planning our next trip!

Great place for a family of any age
We came to have a family vacation after not having one for 5 years. All my kids are now adults and they came with partners and dogs. The house so perfect, with so many places for everyone to hang out. I think we used every room and all 6 adults and dogs enjoyed Birdsong. Owners are really easy to communicate with and very responsive.

Beautiful spot!
We had a wonderful time at Birdsong! It was so nice that the house accommodated our whole family, including a crop of kiddos. Birdsong had absolutely everything we needed for a smooth stay. We were able to play in the snow and walk the beautiful valley and ridge line where Birdsong sits. Would definitely recommend this spot!!

Our book club does something every October to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed at this house for our 5 year celebration. The accommodations were great for us. The home was very nice and we truly enjoyed our stay. The only drawback is that we didn't stay longer! We will definitely return.

Beautiful mountaintop retreat
This home is beautiful to look at as well as ecologically responsible in every way. From the eggs provided to us from the owner's chickens, to the solar-powered and heated home, to the whimsical decorations throughout the house, it was a bit of paradise on earth! Owner Dave graciously gave us a tour of the features of the home and explained how he has achieved a zero-carbon footprint with the home. We enjoyed our time inside as well as marveling at nature from the deck and the fire pit. The kitchen was the better stocked than any other vacation home we've been in, with a variety of cookware, as well as a vast array of spices, teas, and other nonperishable items. And my teenagers will report that the sound system was out of this world!

Spacious, comfortable and private house
Our family had a very nice stay at Birdsong. We particularly enjoyed the beautifully handcrafted interior finishes and all the helpful amenities and supplies that were included in the rental. It was a pleasure to meet GretaLee and Dave, to experience their solar house, and be surrounded by the sights and sounds of the woods. They were kind to share eggs and produce from their own hens/garden, and were very responsive when a repair needed to be made at the house. The unpaved driveway is easy to navigate up to the house in a regular vehicle, which is completely secluded. We would return!

Perfect mountain getaway
We brought our blended family of 11 to stay at Birdsong for a week. Greta met us at check in and gave a tour of the property. Everything we needed for a winter stay in the mountains was supplied. The house was located almost a mile from the main road making it so peaceful and quiet, yet quick access to the highway making it a close trip to Asheville. We enjoyed brilliant stars on clear nights, a warm fire in the fireplace, art in Asheville, hiking on the Appalachian trail from Sam's Gap. The house was perfect for our family vacation, and Greta Lee and Dave were attentive to our questions and very welcoming. We felt at home and would love to come back again.
