"This was my first visit to a hotel with no reception personnel. However, the instructions were good and I was able to check in on the machine and receive a room key. I speak some German, so that helped in following the registration instructions. The only complaint is that the door was left ajar on two occasions by the cleaning staff. "Horrible experience. I was traveling to Berlin for one night and upon arrival I found the hotel front door closed. Apparently this is normal as there is no staff on hand unless there is a check-in due however this prompted me to give the hotel a call. The lady on the phone then (in a very rude manner) informed me that the booking I had had been cancelled by hotels.com and that there were no rooms available. I had not been informed of this and my booking was still listed as active and upcoming in...

"The Pension Unicat was a great place to stay outside of Berlin. We stayed in an annex(?) across the street and our rooms were large. The rooms were clean, bright and airy. The restaurant was excellent and the portions were huge. The staff all spoke at least a little English were friendly and helpful. The train into Berlin is just down the street about a 5 minute walk. The only con was the on street metered parking."

"Hi, there is no do not disturb sign so every day the cleaner would knock very loudly and barge into the room. Also the owner demanded payment when I checked in the even though I booked online. Why do I have to pay twice? Also I checked in at 11:30 pm and the reception was closed even though they’re supposed to be open until midnight. What if I didn’t have a phone? I would have had to sleep outside "

"This property was a perfect place to rest your head at a very competitive price. Its located next to multiple U-bahn stops for easy commuting around the city and a 20-30 minute walk to downtown Mitte, 10-20 to Kreuzberg, and to many of the sight-seeing spots around town. There are few amenities (bring your own bath soap and don't expect an iron), but the bed is comfy, the space clean, and for that price and location, made for a great place to rest my head at the end of a long day."

"Getting the key out of small box not clearly marked or indeed explained in the email was very stressful. This is a real problem. Hotel reception closes at 4pm!!!!"

"I had a very nice week at City Pension Berlin. The place is two minutes from S-bahn station Charlottenburg, which make it easy to get around in the city. My room was clean and I slept very well in a nice bed. I found the staff friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good. It was a nice atmosphere there. Right next to the pension there are lots of restaurants, cafès and shops. I would come back next time in Berlin!"
