"Amazing service and scenery! "

"We were a family of 3 adults in Rm 57. Basically newly renovated room, super clean and spacious. The private bathroom was clean, and nice. Breakfast included was nutritious and good, people nice. Super location, but we could not take advantage of it due to the bad weather, however , the lake on top looks spectacular in other pictures. I would recommend the guesthouse to anyone. "

"This stay was a highlight of our trip. When you turn off route 1, you have to drive 5km over a dirt road, through an absolutely beautiful moss covered lava field. As the dirt road nears the cliffs, I recommend that you stop the car and get out to experience the absolute solitude and stark beauty of this location. You are surrounded by untrammeled lava field and cliffs and waterfalls and nothing but a few water birds. You can’t hear or see route 1, nor do you see any guest house. As you turn to the left, you see the beautiful property set against another cliff. The room was large, modern, warm and clean. The place is newly renovated. The hosts left us some home made waffles for a nice surprise. As dinner was cooking on the outdoor grill, we walked to an amazing private waterfall. The host also pointed out their own private canyon and hill with trails. We could not wait to get up early the next morning to go hiking behind the house to see some amazing views. This is an experience of a lifetime."

"Hunkubakkar Guesthouse is an absolutely little place where you will find adorable cabins to stay in. They are located in a meadow with trees around it, a field of sheep nearby and the sound of a small river/creek. The staff are all so kind and polite. I stayed in a triple room, which had three twin beds, a small bathroom and a table with chairs. The shower is quite small and someone slightly larger than me would have a very difficult time entering it. That being said, the rest of the cabin was super nice. There are a few outlets (three that I recall) in the main room. Breakfast was nothing to write home about. There were cereals, milk, juice, coffee, some bread, yogurt and meat and cheese. Something a little more substantive would be a great addition. I had dinner at the restaurant and it was quite good. I chose the three course meal with asparagus soup, lamb and apple cake. All were delicious! Highly recommend this adorable cabin style stop!"

"Beautiful place. Really enjoyed the charm of the 1973 bungalow. Plenty of space for our infant to crawl around inside. Tasty breakfast! We enjoyed checking out the traditional house and cellar exhibits."

"We stayed just one night and were very pleased overall. While the first room we were assigned needed a bit of cleaning, the front desk promptly moved us to another room which was spotless. We had dinner in the hotel's restaurant, and the quality was spectacular. Who would have expected it in such a small town! Worth going just for the food! The rooms are on the small side (The architect could have designed with a smaller bathroom to use the extra space in the sleeping area) but if you're just there to sleep, it was adequate. The window opens but does not have a screen, and opens wide enough on the ground floor to allow entry which is a security concern. Overall a great stay!"
