"Don’t recommend staying here. Rooms were not clean, sheets and towels could do with a wash, mosquitoes in the room. Very limited breakfast option. Overall not a clean place to stay. It’s cheap for a reason, they pay no attention to cleaning, hygiene or customer service."

This 1100 year-old monolithic Varaha statue is just plain fun, with rows of carved figures draped like a blanket over the boar's back. This is the one of the smallest temples at Khajuraho, but no less intricately carved. From Wikipedia: Varaha is the third Avatar of the Lord Vishnu, in the form of a Varaha (Boar). He appeared in order to defeat Hiranyaksha, a demon who had taken the Earth (Prithvi) and carried it to the bottom of what is described as the cosmic ocean in the story. The battle between Varaha and Hiranyaksha is believed to have lasted for a thousand years, which the former finally won. Varaha carried the Earth out of the ocean between his tusks and restored it to its place in the universe. Vishnu married Prithvi
