"The rooms were spacious, the buffet breakfast delicious and the staff was very friendly. However, our key didn't work. I had to go to the lobby 7 times for this, which was a hassle. Also, in a 5 star resort there should be some things for kids to play with in the pool and more pampering amenities in the room, beside the obligatory shower cap. Also, a free shuttle to Chania would have been a big advantage. "

"We’ve stayed at Samaria Hotel on many occasions and find it quite charming each visit… The staff are very friendly, often going above and beyond to ensure your stay is wonderful… The pool is a great asset, alongside the on-site enclosed parking area… A block away from the main port of Chania so no need for a car in the evenings if you’re staying close by… Overall a wonderful hotel, with a wonderful location! "The property is very outdated. The towels are over laundered and the rooms are run down. The rooms are small and severely over priced for what it accommodates. The beach has no attendants and you must wake up early to reserve a lounge chair. We waited for 30 minutes to get clean towels. I have traveled all over Europe and never stayed in such a hotel. I would never recommend this hotel. "
