"I made the reservation in the afternoon of the date I wanted to stay. Some time after making the reservation I called to ask how to check-in given that it said there is no front desk and I didn't receive any instructions. I was told in German they are fully booked, despite having a confirmed reservation (and the hotels.com website having several rooms there). I asked how can it be and was told that if I want to speak with someone in English I should call again in 0.5-1 hours. I called more than once again and there was no response. I had to make a last-minute late booking elsewhere, spend time on these phone calls, and then spend time to get a refund for the room I didn't get. If I didn't call but instead drove there assuming a confirmed reservation suffices, I guess I would find no one, no room, and be in a late hour where available rooms elsewhere, if exist at all (many places close their check-in early), and require a long drive on narrow roads in the darkness and pay much more.
