"Horrible experience. I was traveling to Berlin for one night and upon arrival I found the hotel front door closed. Apparently this is normal as there is no staff on hand unless there is a check-in due however this prompted me to give the hotel a call. The lady on the phone then (in a very rude manner) informed me that the booking I had had been cancelled by hotels.com and that there were no rooms available. I had not been informed of this and my booking was still listed as active and upcoming in...

"This was my first visit to a hotel with no reception personnel. However, the instructions were good and I was able to check in on the machine and receive a room key. I speak some German, so that helped in following the registration instructions. The only complaint is that the door was left ajar on two occasions by the cleaning staff. It required a slight slam to get it to close properly. It is very convenient to public transportation, shopping and good. There was a great breakfast spot one-half...

"This property was a perfect place to rest your head at a very competitive price. Its located next to multiple U-bahn stops for easy commuting around the city and a 20-30 minute walk to downtown Mitte, 10-20 to Kreuzberg, and to many of the sight-seeing spots around town. There are few amenities (bring your own bath soap and don't expect an iron), but the bed is comfy, the space clean, and for that price and location, made for a great place to rest my head at the end of a long day."

"We stayed over the NYE holiday and didn’t expect to find something so affordable. The location was alright in terms of convenience but the area is a bit questionable. Either way, the reception desk staff were very kind and the room itself was very clean and comfortable. Not bad! "

"Hi, there is no do not disturb sign so every day the cleaner would knock very loudly and barge into the room. Also the owner demanded payment when I checked in the even though I booked online. Why do I have to pay twice? Also I checked in at 11:30 pm and the reception was closed even though they’re supposed to be open until midnight. What if I didn’t have a phone? I would have had to sleep outside "

"Prefer to stay in these quirkier older buildings and it didn't disappoint - great location, welcoming staff and a quiet nights sleep. Couldn't ask for more. Would definitely recommend "

"The Pension Unicat was a great place to stay outside of Berlin. We stayed in an annex(?) across the street and our rooms were large. The rooms were clean, bright and airy. The restaurant was excellent and the portions were huge. The staff all spoke at least a little English were friendly and helpful. The train into Berlin is just down the street about a 5 minute walk. The only con was the on street metered parking."

"The only reason I didn't give excellent is because the hallway and stairs need work. The room itself was bright and comfortable and clean. I feel this prooerty has gotten an unfair rap. It is an older building and not your IBIS but it is fair value downtown AND the host is the nicest and most helpful we have encountered AND there is an excelkent and full breakfastbreakfast "

"The internet was broken, no elevetor - no airconditioning and the bugs - flies and wasps flew into the room. Had to have the windows open because it was so hot. Nice older couple ( I'm 74 myself) but in way over their heads. Really too bad. I booked another hotel through expedia and move - a good hotel the Mercure."

"It's a unique little place in the heart of the Prenzlberg district of Berlin. Just a block from Schönhauser Allee S & U train station and also a block from historic Gethsemane church. Lots of little eateries and a major shopping center all just a few steps away. Neatly appointed rooms that fit right into the district's vibe. And an ice cream shop right att the entrance. "The front desk was not open at all twice when we went to check in. A third time we went back and they were kind but no one spoke any English. I couldn’t communicate needs (extra towels or glasses). The location says Prenzlauer Berg but this isn’t in the center of that cute area. It’s more on the outskirts. That said this place was clean, quiet (our room was beyond a courtyard) and could sleep 5 of us so we would be willing to stay there again. It seemed a good value for the money though I went...

"Good central location - but quiet spot away from main rd. Near a primary school and residential flats and a park. Child friendly. Very good staff on reception. Clean room with balcony and small kitchen facilities. Very good shower. Great location if you want to explore central Berlin. A few mins walk from a subway station"

"The location is wonderful--easy walking distance to many Berlin landmarks. The check in/check out times are limited, but efficient. The apartment itself was clean and good sized, although furnishings were bare bones. Also, no toiletry products (soap, shampoo, lotion) were provided. We had planned to do laundry there, as there was a washing machine, but come to find out there is no dryer."
