"I felt welcome at the hotel from the word go. I arrived on late afternoon Sunday anf there was some good live music on in the courtyard. The hotel doesn't do a Sunday evening meal but I was signposted to good local alternatives. Breakfast in the old oak dining room was great. Building dates back to 1596 with assocations to the Civil War. Landlady Helen and rest of staff very kind and helpful. Great experience as a solo female traveller"

"A last minute booking at this small out of the way historic inn. It was busy at the bar where we checked in so a short wait. Room was basic but well appointed, bed super comfy, shower was hot, tea and coffee in room. Self serve continental breakfast in a dining room was great. Food in the restaurant was amazing and beautifully presented. Set in a small town with adjoining farmland. Close the Hampton Court Castle and gardens."

"First impressions were very good . Bathroom door handle was not secure (just pushed on ) the bedding seemed clean and fresh but i stripped the beds in the morning and the duvets were badly stained "

"Staff deserve a special mention - they made sure felt welcome and had everything we needed travelling with a baby. Room was slightly dated, but it was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. Gym and pool were great. Restaurant food was delicious."

"Really lovely hotel in the centre of Ross-on- Wye. We brought our dog and she was well catered for too (dog biscuits in the room)! Very quiet night and comfy bed. Great restaurant for dinner and breakfast. "
