My friend, his wife, & myself booked three nights. We needed a 2 bedroom & that is what the listing stated & how photos appeared. Upon a late evening arrival we encountered an unpleasant pungent odor, & found the place was nothing like the one in the photos. It was a different looking to what we had booked, was inferior in function and décor, it was a 1-bedroom that had an extra bed in the living room. We were tired, it was late, and so we just all went to bed. I found a hair in my bed and the sheets didn’t smell clean. Found out the next morning my friends had hairs in their bed & they also didn’t think the sheets smelled clean. My friend had issues with the toilet that required multiple uses of a plunger. After waking up in the morning and comparing concerns with my friends I contacted the host about all issues & he asked if I wanted maid service or a full refund. Because there were too many issues I asked for a full refund and we packed up and left for a hotel. 4 days later host told VRBO he would not give refund because I left food in kitchen & place a mess, which was utterly untrue. VRBO did their best to mediate, I sent them all the texts the host sent me and they reviewed the online messages, & we settled on 2 days refund & I let the issue die. I told my friend what happened and he became beyond livid & has gone way more into reaching out to VRBO for a different resolution & is looking into alternate measures, but that’s on him.
