Much needed getaway
This house was exactly as described. We had 3 adults and 3 kids staying here and the house fit our needs well. There is a full bathroom up and downstairs. The upstairs bedrooms get cooler as they each have a window unit to cool the rooms. The house itself is on a private drive which is nice. The kids enjoyed swimming in the outdoor community pool. The location is very central to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain. Would definitely go back!

Cute Little Cabin-Getaway
Just enjoyed a two-night stay at Grandfather's Gem Getaway with my family. Overall: Recommend this rental! Some just notes for future renters: -There are 2 similar addresses when going to location, so make sure street name does NOT have space. -Very quick communication with property manager but responses were more general and not house specific. They did check in when we got there which was nice. -Air conditioner on the main floor did not work, luckily the weather was mild when we were there. The upstairs window AC units were great. -Appliances were clean and worked well! -Kitchen is well stocked, just not organized-so search all cabinets when looking for something. -Beds were decent but too large for the rooms. Move with caution when going around the upstairs queen bed! -Linens are provided. There are one set of towels per person and some pool towels as well. -There were a few laundry and dishwasher pods available in addition to one extra garbage bag, paper towel, and toilet paper roll. I'm not sure if they provide more if you stay longer but might consider bringing extra. They did provide travel size dove shampoo, conditioner, and soap! -The couches and seating were comfortable, just wished the dining table sat 6. -Hot tub was very nice and clean considering multiple use. -The listing does advertise games-but the only thing we found was an incomplete deck of cards and puzzle. Overall, it was a really nice little get away!

Nice little house in a beautiful neighborhood
I was a little nervous about this one due to some recent negative reviews, but we have stayed all over Boone and it's hard to find a perfect house up there. This one is very comfortable, and they must have worked on cleaning because it was mostly fine. Not perfect, but acceptable. Plenty of towels. Main bed is super comfy and the room is quiet and dark. Upstairs ceiling is low so duck but it's worth the tradeoff of having 3 bedrooms with 4 beds (hard to find in the area). TV works great with regular old cable so you don't have to struggle with stupid roku. Lovely porch view for coffee/wine. Other reviews mention that the porch needs cleaning but it's quite literally IN the rhododendron so it's never going to stay clean. Come on folks.... this is the mountains. Kitchen is stocked with spices and bathrooms have soap/shampoo. The neighborhood is wonderful. So pretty and quiet. Pool for the kids and convenient dumpsters for checkout. Location is perfect in the middle of everything up there. I'd rent this one again with a family of 4 adult sized people or 5 if 2 are little and can share the room with twin beds.

Banner Elk
The house had been wiped over. We each had one towel to use for bathing and getting in and out of the hot Tub. I know this is not the standard. When I informed the management, I assumed they would bring more, I should have asked for more. Ugh.

Would Stay Here Again
This is a great location for visiting all of the major spots in and around Banner Elk. Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, Linville Falls, Linville Caverns. The house was clean with only dust in the corners and on the lights and fans. The oscillating fans could use a could dusting, we did not turn them on. We are a bit of a clean freak family and would not have stayed if we did not feel the home was clean enough to our standards. The upstairs rooms were a good size and the upstairs bathroom was relatively large with 3 females sharing the same space and not feeling crowded. We did not utilize the hot tub even though we checked it out and it appeared clean and maintained. Uncertain if the chemical levels would be adequate. Quite to our surprise, the pool guy knocked on our door during our stay to test the water and treat it which was reassuring. Would definitely recommend staying here as we would stay here again if we return.

Perfect Mountain Retreat
The property is set in a beer community. The house itself is very well maintained; there was nothing that we needed upon arrival which is very nice. The icing on top was that they already had the hot tub on and a Christmas tree up lite when we arrived making it that much cozier. All the rooms were clean and there was plenty of space for everyone. We would recommend this home to our family and friends for a relaxing getaway.

Disappointed
No fault of the homeowners, but our stay was a disappointment. The house was fine! Comfortable and nicely appointed for the holidays! If you’re taller than 5’5” stay downstairs, the A frame ceilings make for right living corridors. Dishes were questionable and needed washing before use, but we didn’t mind. The main floor bathroom had tank problems and needed to be filled manually. The biggest problem was that we were told that the hot tub was in working order just 24 hours before check in. Unfortunately we arrived to a 66 degree tub. We contacted Vacasa immediately and we’re told to wait for a response from their local team. We requested updates throughout the day, only to be given the same response. At one point we were told someone would be checking on the issue that day. But to no avail. No one came. So, for 48 hours we sat with no hot tub and no detailed information about a resolution, just more “fluff”… “We will let you know when he hear back from the “local team”. It turns out that Vacasa knew lol along that the hot tub was broken and the needed heating element would not arrive for several days (after checkout). So, we went our entire 3 day stay with a 66 degree hot tub. They have offered us a $45 refund. LOL! We rented the home FOR THE HOT TUB. Sure, things happen. But they knew it was non-operational before our stay and misled us to believe it was working. NC Vacasa needs to be held accountable for quality control before telling customers all is good. Beware.

Nice quiet neighborhood
We enjoyed our stay. Been coming to the Boone area since we were children. Mill Ridge is our favorite place to stay. The neighborhood is close to everything. Nice little home. Comfy beds. Enjoyed the hot tub & fire pit. Property manager was quick to respond to our 1 issue (hot tub needed cleaning so we could use it). We would stay here again.

An okay place
The house was nice. But I wasn’t very happy because the floors were not properly cleaned and our feet were turning black. There was spider webs in the bathroom and some dead bugs in the other one. I booked this place for the location but mostly because it had a hot tub. Well My husband and I,sat in the hot tub 2 nights in a row and didn’t check it out in the day light and the 3rd day we opened it up to see why it was making a noise and it had green algae all over the jets and bottom!! Was sooo nasty!! Looked like nobody had cleaned it for months!! So be aware and check everything out good before using it! For the money we were spending per night, I couldn’t believe how bad it was! Also, there is only air conditioning upstairs, which is also misleading in the listing, and we got pretty warm at night. So, was pretty upset with this place after driving 11 hours to get there. They did give me part of a refund, but my whole vacation was just aggravating!

Dirty and unresponsive management
This property is managed by Vacasa and its nearly impossible to get a hold of property management. I sent emails regarding several issues that I experienced while staying that I received no response. The worst issue being that all the quilts covering the beds smelled so strongly of body odor and it totally permeated the entire main bedroom. The property needs a very serious cleaning. The rugs, walls, blinds and floors were dirty. There is a vacuum to clean, but it was so chocked full of gross from not being emptied that it didn’t work well. The hot tub was briefly skimmed and shocked to the point that my eyes watered when I opened the cover. We did not use it because we worried about chemical burns. The chairs surrounding the fire pit were broken. The molding looks recently replaced with unfinished wooden boards and is likely to get moldy quickly in the bathroom. The nonstick pans need replacing because they are badly scratched and not safe to use. The old baseboard heaters are still in place, so we were unsure of how to heat the house and they seem like a safety hazard. Despite the above noted bad conditions, the location is great. The community is lovely and is easy driving distance to many areas. It could be much better with a more hands on management team.
