Morley Quarry, Shepshed, looking south. Charnwood Borough Council acquired this site, ostensibly to equip for climbing. Although it isn't actually much good for climbing, it does show the outline of a wadi (desert stream) bed infilled with Triassic-Rhaetic marls at the top of the southern face. The eastern face, seen here, reveals northward sloping Charnwood volcanics of Precambrian age. The quarry would have been built to excavate one of the many syenite intrusions in Charnwood Forest.

"This was our third time staying at Mackworth House Farm and, as ever, Peter was the perfect host. The room was clean, tidy and spacious with a beautiful view of the garden. Check-in process was quick, and Peter was on hand to answer any questions we had. The breakfast options were plentiful, and there was a lovely pub a short distance away for evening meals/drinks. Can highly recommend for those wanting to stay in and around the Peak District."

"What a lovely hotel! such friendly staff, great central location, fabulous breakfast - and my what a room! We paid a bit more to have a free-standing bath in the room and it was so worth it. So many cool touches like the Marshall Amp-style mini fridge, cool art & books and funky furniture. Loved it! "
