We are 100 meters from Bragança Castle, right in the historic centre of the city and close to the banks of the Fervença River. Bragança Castle is considered one of the most beautiful and well-preserved castles in Portugal. A walk along the castle walls will give you the chance to admire stunning landscapes, the Fervença River, the park, and part of the city.
Inside the castle walls, the keep tower, an imposing structure 17 meters wide and 34 meters high, houses the Military Museum of Bragança, one of the most comprehensive military museums in the country.
The area surrounding Hotel São Roque is very calm and safe, located within the castle. Beyond visiting the keep tower and the Church of Santa Maria, we also recommend a visit to the Iberian Museum of Masks and Costumes. This museum showcases the traditions of many villages in northeastern Trás-os-Montes.
Outside the castle, you can head to the Abade do Baçal Museum. This museum is another must-visit site, with a vast collection of sacred art, archaeology, and goldsmithing.
Finally, if you have the opportunity, don’t miss the Graça Morais Contemporary Art Centre, designed by the renowned architect Souto Moura. Here you will find various exhibitions by national and international artists, including works by the painter after whom the centre is named.
The property is easily accessible by public transport and car.
The BUS terminal is just a 3-minute drive away.
There is a zero-tolerance policy for smoking on the property. If our team discovers evidence that this rule has been breached (e.g., smoke smell, ashes, butts, etc.), we fully reserve the right to charge a €200 smoking fee at a minimum.
