## Emplacement
The 1st arrondissement is in the city's hypercenter, and is the beating heart of the Phocaean city. It is home to many historic buildings, including the Mission de France church, the Église Saint-Théodore, the Maison du Figaro and the Hôtel Pesciolini. The Jardin des Vestiges, discovered in the 20th century, is home to the remains of Marseille's ancient port, and a quiet, pleasant place to stroll.
