"Young lady on reception really helpful and pleasant she even showed us to the room and offered to carry our case. Nothing was too much trouble for her, she’s a real asset to the hotel. Manager very kind and helpful also. Bar staff good.
Room ok pity about the large stain on the carpet.
Food good, quick service, hot and tasty.
Would highly recommend the hotel. Plenty of parking. Didn’t have time to use any of the facilities which is a pity."
"Location was good , bed clean other than that dreadful. Carpet was filthy , no WiFi even though it said free WiFi , no hot water for the 2 days, bacon run out at breakfast, even thought was 9.15am no yoghurts , the tables were dirty and very sticky , whole place needs a complete re vamp, out dated , dirty , sadly won’t be returning"
"We had a wonderful stay. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and the room was spacious and comfortable. One negative point: the bathroom extractor fan wasn't working and the shower wasn't handheld, but fixed to the wall, causing a lot of splashing."
"Firstly I would not recommend this place to stay to anyone.
On the plus side the room was clean but any so called amenities were pretty basic for what was described as 4 star.
To be told on arrival by the manager/chef/barman/probably everything this as he seemed to be the only person on the premises, that there was no food due to no delivery was a bit of a blow. Then be told that an English breakfast was going to be an additional £8 per head also didn't go down well. We were informed that breakfast was between 8-10.
Thankfully we were only staying the one night, as in the morning no breakfast appeared infact nobody in the place seemed to be around.
My wife and I began to think apart from others who were staying noone
else was in the property, infact I had to unlock the front entrance first thing. We ended up leaving our room keys on the bar and left.
Clearly the place is being run if you can say run on a shoe string.
Unless some serious organisation/work on the place is carried out ASAP
then closure is inevitable, which would be a great shame for a lovely building."
"The Bar area is a bit sterile looking as is the food area, set out a bit like a service station, Food was OK and reasonably prices as was the Alcoholic drinks
Food service stops at 9pm, so if arriving late you'll struggle for food at the hotel
Hotel is not very old , so its immaculate
Recommended but i would eat elsewhere"
"Spent one night at The George. The staff were very friendly, check in was very smooth. Very knowledgeable about car parking in the town. Our room was very comfortable, clean and tidy. We slept well. The bathroom was well appointed, the shower was good and there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very good. My partner had a full English which he was very pleased with. I had poached eggs which were perfectly cooked. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area."
"We really enjoyed our 5 day stay at the Hotel, our standard room was of a very generous size, much bigger than a lot of hotels which was very pleasing.
The Hotel throughout was spotlessly clean, and the food was excellent, the staff were very helpful, and the cost was very reasonable, there was always plenty of parking spaces in the car park, and we will definitely visits again, the Hotel exceeded our expectations."
