My son and I booked and paid for 3 nights at this hotel through Expedia for a motorcycling holiday. The aim was to explore the Donegal area. We received confirmation 3 days before the booking to say that they looked forward to welcoming us at the hotel.
However, when we arrived at the hotel they told us that our booking was cancelled by a 3rd party (?) a week before and that they had no availability for the 2nd night and we would need to make alternative arrangements.
The hotel's attitude was that this was not their problem because I had booked through Expedia rather than directly and that I would need to sort the issue out with Expedia.
The hotel then let us stay the 1 night but then charged us for it directly.
If a hotel wants to advertise and accept bookings via Expedia then it should not be denying responsibility whenever they are overbooked.
As a result there were no hotels available in the Donegal area and we had to instead go to Sligo.
Basically my feeling is that the hotel is happy to take the benefits of the Expedia platform but is not prepared to honour their responsibilities and will instead just say not their problem, you booked through a 3rd party.
So much for our trip to Donegal. A shambles. Thanks very much Mill Park Hotel. Disgraceful that you charged us full price for the Friday night stay despite your failing to honour our already paid for 3 night booking.
